Willy Ramón- Plantain Chips

Willy Ramón Molina is a young entrepreneur from Santa Maria del Real.
  As a high school
student, he formed a small business under the name "Alimentos Molina." This microenterprise processes plantain – cleaning, slicing, frying and seasoning – to make its most popular product: "Tajaditas Olanchanas." Gradually he has excelled in this business. It has earned a place in the community and his product is spreading very fast.

Diaconía Nacional, local affiliate of Partners Worldwide, lent him a small loan for the purchase of raw materials such as plantain, oil, salt and other seasonings. Diaconía’s financing also enabled Willy to employ three more people from his community. As for his plans for the future, his goals include: improving the processing and packaging facilities, expanding the range of products he can offer to his customers, and obtaining official health and safety registration for his products and facilities in order to display his merchandise in larger stores and supermarkets.

With the help of Diaconía and the support of Partners Worldwide, Willy has been very successful in his business.  Today, “Alimentos Molina” provides its high quality products to local diners, shops and small grocery stores called pulperias, as well as individual consumers and households.  This enterprise serves more than 120 regular customers per week. With all of Willy’s hard work, his ambition and his business acumen we know that his company will continue to grow and flourish in the community.
