Gloria Rodriguez - Farmacéuticos

Gloria Rodríguez conoce bien el mundo de los farmacéuticos.  Tiene más de 30 años de desarrollar fórmulas de medicamentos en compañías multinacionales de farmacéuticos.  Mediante esa experiencia aprendió cada aspecto de proceso productivo, pero todas las fórmulas que elaboró y el fruto de su trabajo pertenecían a otros.  Además tenía el deseo de ayudar a sus compañeros de trabajo a encontrar más trabajo.

Basado en su experiencia y un curso auspiciado por PCDE, un afiliado de Partners Worldwide, Gloria escribió un plan de negocio para ampliar el laboratorio construido poco a poco tras los años.  Sus metas eran: llenar las necesidades de empresas conocidas en acuicultura y avicultura, proveer empleo y desarrollar nuevas líneas basado en su conocimiento de bioquímica.  Con un crédito pequeño, ella terminó el acabado del área de producción en el laboratorio y compró las máquinas faltantes.

Aunque el crecimiento es despacio y requiere varios permisos de ministerios del gobierno, Gloria ya ha hecho crecer su negocio y ella da empleo los fines de semana a algunos trabajadores cuando hay pedidos.  Con el crecimiento que ya ha experimentado, ella logró uno de sus esperanzas--poder crear un plazo de empleo para su esposo.  Él había pasado meses viviendo en otra ciudad para mantener un trabajo, pero ahora puede pasar tiempo con su familia y invertir sus esfuerzos en expandir el negocio familiar y crear más plazos de empleo al futuro.

 

Erick Alvarado: Esta es Mi Historia

¡Hola a todos! soy Erick Javier Alvarado tengo 29 años nací en la ciudad de Tegucigalpa Honduras el  25 de febrero de 1982 soy soltero y tengo  una especialidad en diseño grafico. Mi empresa ofrece los servicios de serigrafía, diseño grafico, estructuras metálicas especialmente en la elaboración de exhibidores para supermercados entre otros. Además ofrezco los servicios de imprenta. Mi negocio esta ubicado en el Barrio la Guadalupe, media cuadra Delikatesen, Tegucigalpa, El nombre del negocio es Visión Creativa, se cuenta con siete empleados incluyendo mi persona.

Inicie mi relación con Diaconia Nacional cuando estaba comprando un Ploter (Impresora Grande) para imprimir rótulos de gran magnitud con el cual tuve algunos problemas, sin embargo seguí adelante  a traves de ellos aprendiendo nuevas cosas para mejorar mi negocio.

Quiero contarles un poco a cerca de mi negocio, este es un negocio familiar el cual lo inicio mi padre con mucho sacrificio sin embargo el falleció instalando un rotulo fue cuando tuve que comenzar a involucrarme en el trabajo mas formalmente, gracias a Dios para ese tiempo yo ya me había graduado en diseño grafico e introduje este valor agregado a la empresa con lo que yo sabia hacer con lo cual  he tenido bastante éxito.

Lo que mas me gusta de Diaconia Nacional es que se interesan mucho  por el crecimiento espiritual de sus afiliados yo soy el mas digno ejemplo de ello ya que yo antes asistía a la Iglesia solamente como una costumbre pero no había en mi una convicción completa acerca de Dios. Si sabia que Dios es grande poderoso pero aun no me había convencido que El es mi padre y que estaba mas cerca de mi de lo que yo imaginaba hasta que en una de las capacitaciones en Nicaragua que patrocino Partners Worldwide a los socios de Diaconia Nacional, Dios me hizo un llamado especial a servirle y desde ese momento mi vida ha tenido un giro de 180 grados. 

Ahora asisto a una Iglesia local siendo líder de jóvenes y trabajo con ellos en diferentes actividades que los conducen al estudio de la palabra y evangelismo. He aprendido a escuchar la voz de Dios a través de su palabra y El me guía. Ahora quiero seguir su voz  hacia donde quiere que me dirija en la empresa para  mantener este legado que mi familia ha puesto en mis manos.

Creo que Diaconia Nacional junto con los Partners Worlwide, son Instituciones que llegan al punto exacto de la necesidad de la persona es por ello que les agradezco su apoyo para conmigo me gustan mucho las visitas de los amigos de Partners Worldwide les agradezco sus consejos y oraciones eso es una gran ayuda para la buena ruta de nuestros negocios. A Dios sea la Gloria siempre!

Erick Alvarado: This is my story

My name is Erick Javier Alvarado I am 29 years old and I was born in Tegucigalpa Honduras on February 25, 1982.  I'm single and I have a specialty degree in graphic design. My business offers screen-printing services, graphic design, steel structures, especially designs of displays for supermarkets and others. I also offer general printing services. My business is named Creative Vision and is located in the Guadalupe neighborhood, half a block from Delikatesen, in Tegucigalpa, where I employ seven people and myself.

I started my relationship with Diaconia Nacional when I was buying a plotter (Bigger printer) to print labels of great magnitude with which I had some problems; however, I continued through them to learn new ways to improve my business.

I want to share a little bit about my business. This is a family business, which started with a lot of sacrifice from my father. He died a few years ago installing a panel. That is the point when I decided to get involved in the business in a more regular and formal way. By that time, thanks to God, I had already graduated in graphic design and this knowledge became a value-add to the company. This knowledge has helped me to be successful.

I have enjoyed the connection with Diaconia Nacional, as they are very interested in the spiritual growth of their clients. I am definitely the best example of this statement. Before, I used to attend church only as a habit but I did not have full conviction about God. I knew that God is big and powerful, but I was not yet convinced that He was closer to me than what I expected. I did not fully understand God's calling in my life until the day when I attended a conference in Nicaragua sponsored by Partners Worldwide through the invitation of Diaconia Nacional. During my time there, God made a special call for my life to serve Him. Since then, my life has had a 180 degrees change! 

Currently, I attend a local church where I am the youth leader and work with them in various activities that have led us to the study of the word and evangelism. I learned to listen the voice of God through His word and to be guided by Him. I want to follow his voice directing me how to be a good steward of the family legacy.

I think that Diaconia Nacional and Partners Worldwide are Institutions that reach the exact point of the need for their members. I appreciate their support and enjoy the visits from the Partners Worldwide friends. Thank you for your advice and prayers, which have continue to help me develop my business. Grupo confirma visita al Ecuador

Un grupo de empresarios norteamericanos que apoyan el trabajo de Partners Worldwide en Ecuador confirmó hoy día una visita al país sudamericano para los últimos días de agosto.  Los integrantes esperan reunir con líderes locales en las ciudades de Cuenca y Quito además de visitar por primera vez dos comunidades en el Oriente que están buscando maneras de conservar el bosque mediante el desarrollo de negocios agrícolas.  Oramos por la bendiciones de Dios en esta visita, que Él abre puertas para servir y caminar a lado de aún más empresarios ecuatorianos.

Joyful Landowner

Veronica Benavidez was born in a remote community called Yale. She has 3 sisters and 5 brothers. Veronica grew up farming and she loves taking care of her 5 children. Veronica has not had an easy life at all. She is one of many thousands of women in Nicaragua who have had to really fight to keep her family together. ¨I got married at the age of 15 and my parents wedding gift was a small piece of land. My suffering started three years later when my father became alcoholic and took away the piece of land he had given me¨.

Veronica and her husband first worked for 3 years for a very well-known landowner in the region who had 98 acres of fertile soil. They both managed the business side of the farm and as ¨a token of appreciation¨, they were allowed to ¨live¨ and ¨work¨ on 1 acre of poor quality soil and make a living off it. ¨After the first year, my husband and I felt that we were investing our time, energy and whatever money we could for nothing¨ so we switched into ¨saving mode¨ for 2 more years and came up with just enough to buy one fourth of an acre to live on¨. Unfortunately, Veronica and her husband never received the Deed Title for the plot they bought and a few years later they were kicked off the property. With their hearts full of dreams and hope, they started all over again and started working for big landowners. Again, they had saved enough to buy another piece of land and when they did, guess what happened?! The same ending!

¨It was out of desperation that my husband had thought about illegally migrating to the United States to work, make money, come back and buy a bigger piece of land for us to live. I was totally devastated by his decision and my children were too. That trip would have meant the end of my family but GOD had different plans for us. I am deeply grateful to God for Farmer to Farmer and for the Land for Landless Farmer Program. F2F saved my marriage and my family!¨  

  

By the Grace of God, Veronica and her family now own their own parcel, through the Partners Worldwide Land for Landless Farmer Program. They have a decent house (built by themselves), they grow 13 different crops, they are healthy but the most important is that their faith has been renewed. ¨I will never let God down; I will pay off my loan no matter what¨ 

Veronica is 37 years old and happily married.  Her husband´s name is Isidro Martinez. They grow banana, plantains, coco, coffee, avocados, pepper, yucca, lemons, oranges, red beans, rice, and sugar cane. They also have chickens, ducks and a cow. Veronica is a member of New Jerusalem Land bank and she is very positive that her family will be the first one paying off the land. She has been part of the program for one year already.

Gloria Rodriguez - Pharmaceuticals

Gloria Rodriguez is no stranger to work in pharmaceuticals.  With over 30 years experience working for multinational pharmaceutical companies to develop formulas, Gloria learned every aspect of production.  However, within large companies any formula she developed belonged to someone else, and she was powerless to help underemployed coworkers find extra hours of work.

Using her work experience and a class taught by Partners Worldwide affiliate PCDE, Gloria wrote a business plan to expand the laboratory she had slowly built with small purchases over several years.  Her goals were to meet the needs of aquaculture and poultry farming contacts, provide employment, and develop new product lines based on her knowledge of biochemistry.  With a small loan, she finished the production areas in the laboratory next to her house and purchased the machines she lacked.

While growth is slow and requires many government permissions and patents, Gloria has already begun to expand her business and give weekend work to underemployed workers.  And with the growth of the business, she already has fulfilled one of her hopes--to provide employment that would allow her husband to return.  He had spend many months living in another city during the week in order to keep his job.  Now he is able to be with his family and put his energy into expanding a family business that they hope will create many more jobs in the coming years.

Educación: Una Clave del Éxito

Estudiantes Capacitan a Microempresarios

Los estudiantes de la Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Honduras (UNAH) capacitaron a microempresarios de Nueva Suyapa el dia Viernes 25 de Mayo de 1:00PM  a 4:30PM. Los estudiantes fueron capacitados y asesorados por el Lic Rafael Nuñez director del programa de Administración de Empresas de la UNAH. 

Los jovenes Carlos Zelaya, Lino Dominguez y Ana Lucia Castillo estudiantes de ultimo año en las carreras de Administración de Empresas y Mercadeo compartieron tres talleres: Inventarios, Conociendo tu producto y Motivacion en medio de la crisis.

Hubieron 30 asistentes a la capacitación en diferentes rubros. Se hicieron dinámicas en equipo y grupos de discusión donde pudimos compartir y aprender de la experiencia de los empresarios asistentes. Al final, se entrego un diploma de participación y se tuvo un tiempo de companerismo y convivio.

Al terminar la capacitación los empresarios completaron una encuesta dando su opinion respecto a las capacitaciones y a los facilitadores. Karina, propietaria de ventas de comida para eventos nos comentó “La capacitación fue excelente. Los consejos que nos dieron fueron de mucha ayuda y aprendimos cosas nuevas que no sabiamos”. 

Otros de los microempresarios, tambien comentaron la importancia de conocer su producto y de como las capacitaciones los motivan a salir adelante. “Agradecemos el interés que nos dan y las capacitaciones...y aprendemos mucho de ellas”

Education: A Key To Success

Business Students Train Entrepreneurs

The students of the National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH) trained entrepreneurs of Nueva Suyapa on Friday May 25 from 1:00pm to 4:30pm. The students were trained and mentored by Professor Rafael Nuñez director of the Business Administration faculty of UNAH.

Carlos Zelaya, Lino Dominguez and Ana Lucia Castillo senior students of Business Administration and Marketing shared three workshops on: Inventory, Knowing your product, and Motivation and Encouragement in the midst of crisis.

There were thirty attendants from all diferent business industries. There were group discussions and activities where entrepreneurs were able to share their experience and learn from the experience of others attendants. At the end, participants obtained a diploma of attendance and a time of gathering and fellowship.

At the end of the training, the entreprenurs completed a survey giving their opnion regarding the training and the facilitators. Karina, owner of  catering food services commented, “The training was excellent. The advice shared was of a lot of help and we learned new things that we did not knew before”

Other entrepreneurs, also commented on the importance of knowing their products and how the trainings motivate and encouraged them to keep moving forward. “We are grateful for the interest given to us and for the trainings offered...we learn very much from them”

The youngest member of our Mombachito family, Angelita de los Milagros, passed away yesterday morning at 1:00 a.m. at her home in Mombachito, Boaco. It was shocking news after all the efforts that were made in order to help Gloria and Angelita over the past several months. Gloria had an emergency c-section to deliver Angelita in early March. They remained in the hospital for more than 2 months before returning to Mombachito earlier this month. Her situation was delicate in the hospital but since returning home she was doing well, gaining weight and seemed to be out of danger.The photo above was taken when Rolando and Yessenia visited them last week Monday. They said that she looked healthy and strong, so her sudden death was a surprise to everyone.

For families from rural Nicaragua, good health care is difficult to find and often times the farmers struggle to understand the medical terms and explanations given by the doctors. Although Angelita seemed to be in good health, we are unsure of her exact situation caused by her early birth. Rolando believes she may have had a birth defect in her heart that caused her death.

As a Farmer to Farmer family we are fighting that battle today as Rolando, Yessenia and Freddy are attending the funeral of that precious baby girl. We ask you for your prayers so that the Holy Spirit will comfort the hearts of Gloria, Lukitas and their relatives. Lukitas and Gloria are new Christians, so pray that the enemy and his lies will be driven far away from them and that these trials and heartaches will draw them into the Lord's arms.
